Thoughts

A poem I have written for my dear wife Laurette. Walking with Memories With every breath and step I take, memories comes to mind Of people, places, events and faces and then I always find One memory comes shining through, a face in a flower A heaven in a bloom, a smile in my memory, a voice in the air My hand reaches out and you are there. …and you are there. Another step on the path, there's a sign I've seen To the land that once might have been Hold those memories that fit the dream Cherish the times that have really been And Walk to the sea, climb to the hills To the beach beyond, I know how it feels. There’s a face in my memory, a voice in the air My hand reaches out and you are there. Then I close my eyes to find a sweet dream And visit that land that might have been. . . . . that might have been I dream of a land that lies ahead It's in my mind, in my head Love is real is this changing scene I know that land is not a dream As I walk to the sea, climb to the hills To the beach beyond, I know how it feels There's a face in my memory, a voice in the air My hand reaches out and you are there. . . . you are there.

I wrote this song in 1973 for my wife, Laurette, when we lived in Soham, Cambridgeshire and it was added to and revised in 1987 and recorded in 2002-3 at Penfeidr in Pembrokeshire. John x It can be found at. https://oldblokeinwales.bandcamp.com/track/infinity-sings Infinity Looking now in a different way and wanting to really say All those things that I always knew, about those days do you remember them too? - they were our yesterdays. Life has changed and time has passed, the stage is set for a brand new cast Who step out today from the crowd and will tell the world, and shout out loud - about our yesterdays. Tomorrow will soon be gone, no one will ever remember our song That sings of nothing new or old but lets the story of love unfold - back in our yesterdays. Come fly into the unknown with me to the golden shore that we will see In the mist of time, it’s hidden within as if tomorrow just waits to begin - as our yesterday. To go back in time, back in time they say is impossible in anyway But looking now back into the past, I know our future can only last - for ever.
